TOUR DESCRIPTION

Day 1
Bangkok Grand Palace and city sights
This first day tour is a fantastic way to start exploring Bangkok by visiting this huge city’s true heart and soul! During this one-day trip you will be collected from your hotel in Bangkok and escorted to your first visit of the tour which is the most important temple and palace complex in the city, 'The Grand Palace'. This remarkable and sprawling structure was constructed as the main royal residence and several additions have been completed over the years including the breathtaking Wat Prah Kaew temple, which houses the iconic Emerald Buddha, a famous Buddha image carved from only one piece of jade! After your Grand Palace visit, we will proceed to the adjacent Wat Po, known through out Thailand for its Thai massage school as well as its immense reclining Buddha. We will break for lunch before resuming the tour and exploring some of Bangkok’s notorious waterways; starting with the mighty Chao Phraya River. We will reach the docks and board a long tail boat that will give you a scenic ride along the Chao Phraya. From this vantage point we will experience the river life of Bangkok and see the city from a completely different perspective. At one point, your boat will leave the Chao Phraya and travel through some of the backwater narrow canals in Thonburi. You will witness a more sedate and traditional lifestyle still persisting away from the hustle and bustle of Bangkok.

After returning to the docks and disembarking the long tail boat, we will board a river ferry and cross the Chao Phraya to reach Wat Arun, one of Thailand’s most iconic temples. Get close to this magnificent structure and even climb part way up the stupa and take in the panoramic view over the surrounding area and the Chao Phraya. The final destination of the tour will be the hectic district of Yaworat; you will visit Bangkok’s China Town by foot and see Wat Traimit which features a solid gold Buddha. After the tour, you will be driven back to your hotel in Bangkok

Day 2
Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak, mangroves and Oyster Farm
After our team collects you from your hotel in Bangkok on day two, you will begin the drive south towards the Mae Klong Train Market. At this unique market, you can witness the vendors set up their produce stalls directly over the train tracks of a railway line in full service! Simply wait and witness a surprising scene unfold as the train rides through this market and vendors hurry to pull away their stalls! After our Mae Klong Train Market visit, we will make a stop at a small palm sugar home industry; witness how they produce this fantastic sugar and have a taste. We’ll then resume the short drive to the boat pier located near Damnoen Saduak at which point you board a private motorboat which will bring you to the floating market via a series of narrow canals and backwaters; enjoy the spectacle of real canal life along the way. We will step off the boat once at the market and you will be free to venture through the market; you can walk up and down the various canals and flag down boats and merchants as you please. You will also have the option to board a paddleboat and really get close to the action in his colourful waterborne destination. After the morning’s visits at the train and floating market, we will begin driving to the river where you will board a boat that will take you to a small local fishing community in the estuary and will visit mangroves swaps. These mangroves are home to a group of macaque monkeys; some of them will even come swimming out to your boat hoping to be fed a few bananas! The boat ride will continue through the river estuary and further out into the sea where we will come across an oyster farm where you will be shown how local fishermen cultivate them. The day will finish when we escort you back to your hotel in Bangkok.

Day 3
Ayutthaya and Bang Pa In Summer Palace
For the final day of this three day package of tours you will be picked up from your Bangkok hotel and we will leave the city for the one hours drive north to Bang Pa In Palace, this palace situated on the banks of the Chao Phraya was formerly used by Thai Kings and was originally constructed in 1632, however it lay unused and overgrown for most of the 18th and 19th centuries but was finally restored and added to by King Mongkut in the latter half of the 19th century, many of the presents buildings were constructed by King Chulalongkorn between 1872 and1889. Following the Palace visit we will proceed to Ayutthaya where the fist stop will be Wat Yai Chaimongkhol. We will then proceed to central Ayutthaya where most of the remnants and old temples can be found. We will spend the rest of the day visiting and exploring the temples in this area.
